| As a pigment composed of organic compounds,
there is a lake which is made by adding
metal chloride to an insoluble dyestuff
or a soluble dyestuff and settling it.
Its thermal resistance is inferior to
inorganic pigment. But kinds of color
are various, its tinctorial power is
high and color is clear. It is expensive. |

| As an inorganic pigment, it is also
called mineral pigment. There are two
types in this pigment : one is made
of natural mineral as it is or by processing
and reducing minerals to powder and
the other is made of metal compounds
such as zinc, titanium, lead, iron,
copper, chrome, and so on. Compared
to organic pigment, it is generally
more opaque and its density is also
lower. However, its light resistance
and thermal resistance are good and
it does not dissolve in organic solvents.
In addition, it is cheap and used a
lot. |
